Deutsche Schule Jakarta (DSJ) is a school of encounter between nations and cultures and provides schooling from Pre-School levels (for children as of 2 years of age) up to High School. The German “Deutsche Internationale Abitur Prüfung (DIAP)” is DSJ internationally recognized high school diploma as commissioned by the German government. DSJ is part of a network of more than 140 German Schools abroad and has been certified by the German governing body “Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen” as an Excellent German School Abroad.

DSJ was founded in Bandung in 1956. After moving to a campus in Jakarta-Menteng in 1967, DSJ in 1998 again relocated to the heart of BSD-City / Tangerang Selatan. DSJ now uses a newly built state-of-the-art school building on a generous estate of 4.3 hectares in a green and clean environment. The school capacity now is up to ca. 420 students. Located some 25 km to the south-west from Jakarta Pondok Indah area, the school is easy to reach via two toll roads (either Outer Ring Toll Road/exit Serpong-Pamulang, or Toll Road Jakarta – Merak / exit Alam Sutera). DSJ is well equipped with several sports facilities, science labs, libraries and computer rooms among others. A canteen on the campus and various extracurricular activities are further examples to complete DSJ‚ aspiration to be a full day center for the German and Germany-interested communities.

As an entry point for especially Indonesian students, DSJ offers the ‚Trilingual department. This is a specifically designed program until Grade 6 to prepare students from non-native German language families for the bi-lingual German Junior-/Highschool until the DIAP graduation. In accordance with the requirements from respective Indonesian education laws and regulations, Indonesian citizens retain a strong footing in their native language and culture. At any point during their school career at the DSJ, students, therefore, remain compatible with other relevant school systems.

The German graduation DIAP (Deutsche Internationale Abitur Prüfung) uses a mix of subjects delivered and examined in the German or English language. DSJ students, therefore, have the best chances to pursue a tertiary education path in any country in the world, and also have been well prepared for the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing globalized world.
